Holiday leave and unused leave payout calculator
How many days of leave you get
In Poland an employee with less than 10 years of service gets 20 days of leave a year, and from 10 years — 26 days. Education counts towards service, e.g. a completed general secondary school counts as 4 years and a university degree as 8 years. Part-time employees get proportionally less, with a partial day rounded up.
If you start or leave a job during the year, you get pro-rata leave: 1/12 of the annual entitlement for each month worked, also rounded up to a full day.
Payout for unused leave (ekwiwalent)
When your contract ends and you have unused leave, the employer pays it out. With a fixed salary, the monthly pay is divided by the leave coefficient — 20.92 for full time in 2026 (proportionally less for part time) — and multiplied by the number of unused days. The payout is taxed and subject to contributions like normal salary.
With a fixed salary you receive your normal pay while on leave. Variable components (bonuses, overtime) are averaged over the last 3 months — this calculator does not include them.
