IKZE calculator 2026 — how much tax you get back

How the IKZE tax relief works

IKZE (Individual Retirement Security Account) contributions are deducted from your income in the annual Polish PIT return. Your refund equals the contribution multiplied by your tax rate: 12% or 32% on the tax scale, 19% on flat tax. On lump-sum tax (ryczałt) the contribution is deducted from revenue, so the refund depends on your ryczałt rate. In 2026 you can pay in up to 11,304 PLN, or 16,956 PLN if you run a business.

Gains inside an IKZE are free of the Belka tax. When you withdraw after age 65 you pay only a flat 10% tax on the whole amount. If you withdraw earlier, the money is added to your income and taxed at your normal rate.

IKZE or IKE?

IKZE gives you a benefit right away — a tax refund every year. IKE (limit 28,260 PLN in 2026) gives no relief on contributions, but withdrawals after age 60 are completely tax-free. Those who gain most have both accounts: fill the IKZE limit first, then put the rest into IKE. Both accounts can hold e.g. EDO treasury bonds, ETFs or funds.

How we calculate

We assume the same amount is paid in at the start of each year at the average return you entered. Tax refunds are treated as cash (not reinvested). For comparison we calculate a regular brokerage account with the same contributions and 19% Belka tax on gains at withdrawal.
